47-years old man stabbed his 6-years old son to death at Takoradi.


Residents are in total Shock after a 47-year-old man stabbed his six-year-old son to death at Diabene, a farming community in the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis of the Western Region.

Aaba Kwaku, a local distiller slashed his son’s neck with sharp knife on Friday causing the boy to bleed to death without any Form of provocation.

Aaba is reported to have committed the crime at about 11:30pm while he was on his way to farm with his two children, including the deceased.

Though the man claimed the machete fell from a sack the deceased was carrying and accidently hacked his son, his elder son who witnessed the incident said his father intentionally hit the deceased with the sack containing the well-sharpened machete.

Some residents, including his wife, Maame Tweba, who spoke to Takoradi-based Connect FM some minutes after the incident, described the suspect, her husband as a violent and drunkard man.

Earlier before the incident, Maame Tweba said she prepared rice for the family to eat before the man left home with the two sons for farm at about 10:00am.

According to her, some few minutes after they had left home, she heard some screaming from afar only to step out to find her husband carrying the motionless body of the younger son.

“I rushed to where he came to put him [the deceased] and saw blood oozing from the nose and other parts of the body. My husband and his elder son also had blood stains all over their bodies,” she narrated.

She said before she could compose herself, people from the community had besieged the premises to question the suspect as to what happened.
