James Oppong-Boanuh, the acting IGP of the Ghana police has directed a specialized team of investigators and operations from the National Headquarters of the Police Service to support the Ashanti and Eastern Regional Police Commands to investigate the killings of two police officers.
A statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Superintendent Shiela Abayie-Buckman (Mrs) said the police hierarchy is on its way to meeting with the families of the deceased officers to commiserate with them.
The two officers were killed in separate incidents on Monday, August 19, 2019 and Tuesday, August 20, 2019.
While one of the officers was killed at Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region, the other was killed in Akyem Swedru in the Eastern Region.
Meanwhile, an officer of the same police service allegedly committed suicide at his duty post yesterday. To say, three officers died by the gun in the space of two days.
The statement further assured that the police service will deal with anybody or group of persons behind the heinous attack.
The Police Administration is also encouraging anybody or persons with information to report to the nearest police station with the information.
