Tension seems to be mounting at Asuoyeboah in the Kwadaso municipality of the Ashanti region as aggrieved residents have threatened to block the Sofoline-Abuakwa highway in protest against the constant killings of residents by drivers on the road.
The agitation comes days after a 65-year old woman was knocked down and killed by a car at Asuyeboah market junction, according to the residents, is the 120th incident recorded on the Sofoline-Abuakwa highway in just two years and five months.
They alledged that , “several complaints have been made to the MCE of Kwadaso municipality, Hon. Agyenim Boateng Richmond, Ashanti Regional Police Command and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, but they have turned deaf ears to our plights as people continue to die”.
“By the end of August this year, if nothing is done about it, we will mount a demonstration by blocking the highway and make sure the impact becomes unbearable to motorists. We will not sit down unconcern for our people to die here, while the authorities in charge lives happily and unconcern,” they threatened.
