Chiefs Petition Ga West Municipal Assembly Over Poor Road Network

Chiefs and people of Afuaman, Manhean, Joma, Nsakina and Oduman have petitioned the Ga West Municipal Assembly over the deplorable state of their road network.

They were clad in red and match to the offices of the Ga West Municipal Assembly and gave their petition to the Municipal Chief Executive, MCE.

Petitioning the MCE, the Secretary for the Coalition of the communities, Emmanuel Quartey, said the bad roads have led to the loss of lives, especially sick person who being transported to hospital.

He noted that the situation left distress commuters from the communities and beyond with no option than to walk to Ablekuma junction to board vehicle.

Mr. Quartey stated that it takes residents longer time reaching their destination when plying the road.

He added that residents of the various communities are facing hardships and losses due to the pathetic nature and condition of the road network over the past years.

Receiving the petition, the Ga West Municipal Chief Executive, Clement Nii Lamptey Wilkinson, said the roads have been awarded to contractor and assured them that he will introduced the contractor to the chiefs and work will commence soon.

He also assured the Chiefs that he will convey the petition to the President and the Minister for Roads and Highways.

Mr. Wilkinson commended the Chiefs for peaceful press conference and also involving themselves to see the development of the Ga West Municipality.
