Business owners including Bar operators at the Sakumono beach has called on the security agencies especially the Ghana Police Service to strengthen security at the beach to prevent the continues daylight robbery attacks on revellers.
The Sakumono beach is currently the most popular beach within the Tema area, bustling throughout the week with weekends being busier. This is where some businessmen have found profitable ventures such as bars and other recreational ventures for revelers who throng the beach.
WeestAfrica24.com investigations have revealed that city authorities also realise huge revenues through taxes. However, these business owners have to run their businesses in a seemingly insecured atmosphere due to robbery attacks visited on them each day.
Victoria Addy tells this portal that though they have hired the services of individual securities, they are limited to their premises, saying the robbers attack revellers on their way to the main road after they have left their premises. She called on the police patrol team to be regular in the area to ward of the criminals.
Leonard Anayo an operator at the beach speaking on sanitation said, the entire Sakumono Beach does not have single waste bin in such an important area, compelling operators to rely on motor tricycles services which makes management of refuse difficult.
Leonard Anayo charged the Tema West Municipal Assembly to provide them with waste bins, and as well, at least, gravel the road at their frontage to prevent inaccessibility during the wet season.
