Tension is building up within the Ayawaso Central Constituency branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), as the Deputy Minister for Interior, Hon. Henry Quartey and the Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer of the party, Moses Abor are currently in logger heads.
Without traceable provocation, the Deputy Minister alleged to have abused his powers and ordered for the arrest of the RegionalYouth Organizer and had him locked up in police cells.
Mr Abor was arrested on Friday evening on the instructions of the Deputy Minister for the Interior.
Information gathered indicated that the NPP Regional Youth Organizer for some time now has not been in good terms with Deputy Minister who is also the Member of Parliament, MP for Ayawaso Central Constituency.
The MP is said to have taken the show power action on grounds that, the regional youth leader is alleged to be supporting a parliamentary candidate aspirant to unseat the Deputy Minister in the upcoming parliamentary primaries.
This appeared to have angered the Hon. MP Henry as he felt his effort for the party is being downplayed or undermined by his regional youth organizer’s and supporting another person.
In order to show Abor of his powers and to teach him some lessons, Quartey allegedly ordered one ASP John Danso at the regional police command to arrest Moses Abor and detained him.
It took the intervention of some party gurus and Ayawaso Central Constituency executives to get him released.
The NPP Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer, Moses Abor has since been granted bail and expected to report to the regional police command on Monday.
Meanwhile, further information gathered pointed out that all is not well with the Deputy Minister/MP as tensions heighten between the constituency executives to throw their weight behind Henry’s opponent.
Sources closed to the NPP indicated that Henry Quartey want to use every means possible to win the primaries. He vowed to crash any party executive who supports his opponent in the upcoming primaries in the constituency.
