A man who was on remand in police custody for armed robbery escaped jail after attacking a police officer who is on duty at Bongo in the Upper West Region of Ghana.

Gaddafi Atindana was on Friday July 5, 2019 remanded into prison custody in Navrongo for two weeks to reappear on July 17, 2019 by the Bongo Magistrate Court.

Reports gathered from the police have it that prison authorities refused to admit him because he sustained injuries all over his body during his arrest and was brought back and put in cells to be sent back to court on Monday July 8, 2019.

During inspection of the cells on Saturday by one Lance Corporal Peter Owusu, the remand prisoner forcibly pushed the policeman down and escaped.

The police has since launch a manhunt for him in the region.
