NDC activist defrauded hundreds of residents.

A popular National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist and Assemblyman for Apewosika Electoral Area in Abura Asebu Kwamankese(AAK) district in the Central Region, Mr. Victor Benjamin Quacoe is on the run after defrauding hundreds of residents to the sum of ¢25,000 with the promise of giving them prepaid electricity meters.

Police in the area are on manhunt for him with the aggrieved residents warning opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) led by the Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama not to step foot in the area to campaign until they have been fully sorted out.

According the victims who spoke to MyNewsGh.com’s Asana Gordon at Putibiw and Wiumua respectively, they were facing problems of securing prepaid meters from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and due to that the said Assemblyman volunteered to use his position to facilitate.

Consequently, they said each person billed GH¢170 to be paid the said Assemblyman for the purchase of the prepaid meters but since 2016, they have neither received the meters nor a refund of their money.

They stated that several complaints have been lodged with the police within the district but it proved futile and cautioned the NDC in whose name the Assemblyman campaigned to call him to order or face their wrath.

A former Assembly member of the area, Mr. Benjamin Tawiah Bentsil appealed to authorities to help in fishing out the suspect who is believed to be hiding in neighbouring towns in the area.

On his part, the Adontenhen of Asebu Traditional Area, Nana Bokyerwa Ekwembir who confirmed the concerns of residents to this portal, revealed that he had even wanted to cause the arrest the assemblyman in question but was told that he disappeared and till date his whereabouts not known.
