Information reaching the Westafrica.com indicates that the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Ade Coker is demanding 5,000 Ghana Cedis and above from new candidates who have expressed their intents to contest in the party’s upcoming Parliamentary Primaries.
Mr. Ade Coker is allegedly shielding most sitting Members of Parliament who have oil brand to his demand thereby frustrating others.
The development is creating a lot of problems among the regional executives thereby hindering the smooth operations of party activities in the region. Westafrica.com learnt that few hours to the opening of nominations, non of the constituencies in the region has received nomination forms as executives are said to have scheduled a meeting on Wednesday, the day for the opening of nominations.
Our source at the regional office of the party reveals serious cracks and infighting among the executives due to the unacceptable leadership style of Chairman Ade Coker. Party gurus in the region who spoke to this portal on the happenings in the party within the region expressed worry over the turn of events and called on national executives to swiftly intervene.
According to them, the cracks in the region could impede the victory of the party in the 2020 elections and therefore called for immediate intervention by the top hierarchy.
This portal has observed that the Parliamentary Primaries could face steep challenges with which majority will lay blame on the corridors of Chairman Ade Coker.
“This development could spark serious controversy in the party in the region if Immediate steps are not taken to call chairman Ade Coker to order”, the source asserted.
