Odorkor Police Commander Dragged To PIPPS

Mr. Kwabla Azumah ,a resident of Accra is lacing his boots to drag the Odorkor Police District Commander Superintendent Douglas Kumah to the Police Professional Investigations Bureau (PIPPS) over allegations of threat of death from the latter.

This was after some youths of Ngleshie – Lafa and Gbawe had some hot verbal exchanges leading to fisticuffs at the Mallam Market in Accra some few days ago over boundary dispute between the two Traditional Authorities.

This portal was informed that after the confrontations the police came in to restore law and order during which some of the youths were picked up for interrogation.

According to Mr. Kumah when the Police Commander called him to his office, he had the shock of his life when the commander told him that he has intelligence that he (Mr Kumah) is an armed robber and therefore he must cease to be one or he will have himself to blame.

Failure to heed to the advice of the Commander, Mr. Kumah continued will result in the police one day shooting him to death after which they will place a gun beside him which will be interpreted that he engaged the police in a shoot out and he died in the process.

This development has incurred the wrath of the Ngleshie Lafa Stool elders who have vowed to report the conduct of the Odorkor District police commander to Police Professional Investigations Bureau (PIPPS) for thorough investigations to be carried out into the veracity or otherwise of the allegations.

According to the elders they will use every available means to see to it that the matter is delve into and a favourable outcome achieved.

The elders are calling for the immediate transfer of the Police Chief as his role has a neutral Police Commander has been compromised.

According to the Ngleshie- Lafa Stool elders the police commander has taking sides and works purely to support the Traditional Authority of Gbawe by offering them advice on plans and strategies to adopt to enable him nail the Ngleshie- Lafa youth when the need arises.

They believe the development is not conducive for peace and development of the community, stressing that the Commanders compromised position has the tendency of creating tension and subsequent blood shed since he only sees evil among the youth of Ngleshie- Lafa.

They are therefore calling on the President, His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo and the Inspector General of Police to call him to order before things get out of hand.

When reached via phone, Superintendent Kumah denied accusing him of been an armed robber but only advised him based on the information available to him and ever since they have been good friends.

On the allegation of been in bed with the Gbawe Traditional Authority, he said his experience in the service in dealing with boundary disputes with traditional authority has always been the same …that is one group will always accuse you of working against the other.

He said he is discharging his duties in the supreme interest of the State and not on the whims and caprices of any individual or group of persons.
