As part of activities to mark this year’s Opah Homowo celebration, indigenes of Opah on Thursday August 29, 2019 embarked on a health walk at Opah in the Ga West Municipality.
The two hour walk, which started around 5:30am at the Opah Lorry Park to some principal streets of Opah, to Sarpeiman and ended forecourt of the Opah community centre.
The execise aimed at creating awareness on the need to exercise and also to keep the youth fit to usher them into the main event on Saturday.
Speaking in an interview with the Chief of Opah Traditional Area, Nii Ayitey Okuansuro I, repeated the call on Ghanaians especially natives of Opah to undertake regular exercise to maintain their health.
He explained that the festival was fast approaching and the community needed the youth to be in shape to fully participant in the celebrations, hence the walk.
He said exercising was the surest way to kip fit and contribute to the nation’s development.
On his part, the Noyaa Mantse of Opah, (Development Chief of the Opah Traditional Area), Nii Odartei Okasa I, noted that the continues exercising of human body will enable them to live long, adding that a healthy mind works in a sound body.
He said it was imperative for the youth to exercise and keep fit to improve the quality of their health adding that health walk was also to create awareness for the people of the upcoming festival.
He commended the elders and the Chiefs of Opah Traditional Area, the young and the old for participating in the exercise and assured them of historic Homowo.
