Six people have been confirmed dead in an accident which happened Thursday 25 July, 2019 at Koluedor in the Ada West District.
The Ada West District Police Commander, DSP George Aboagye tells WestAfrica24.com that the accident which occurred around 2pm involved a Sprinter Bus with registration No. GT 5939-19 and a Hyundai Tescon also with Registration No. GX 9588-8
Though he was unable to tell the cause of the accident, eye witnesses’ accounts says the Hyundai Tescon which was heading towards Tema was trying to save a reckless motto (okada) rider who wrongly overtook him but unfortunately crashed into the Sprinter Bus which was coming from the opposite direction with 33 passengers onboard.
DSP Aboagye intimated that the bodies were deposited at the Ada East District Hospital Morgue while 19 others who sustained various degrees of injury are presently being treated at the same Hospital.
The two drivers according t the Commander sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged hours later.
He assured the Command’s readiness to investigate the cause of the accident.
DSP Aboagye sought the opportunity to advise drivers to be careful on the road especially as the annual Asafotufiami festival fast beckons.
