Wendy Addo, known by the pseudonym Wendy Shay is a Ghanaian Afropop and Afrobeat singer. She was introduced to music by Rufftown Records Manager Bullet and signed In January 2018 after the untimely death of label mate Ebony Reigns.
Wendy Shay has performed at several events including Miss Ghana 2018 Finals, BF Suma Connect 2018 Concert and RTP Awards Africa 2018, December 2 Remember amongst others. Her hit single ‘’Uber Driver’’ produces by MOG Beatz properly introduces her to Ghanaians and reaffirmed her name in the music and creative arts fraternity.
Some hit songs by Wendy Shay are:
- ‘’Bedroom Commando’’
- ‘’Psalm 35’’ (featuring Kuami Eugene and Sarkodie)
- ‘’Masakra’’ (featuring Eno Barony)
- ‘’All For You’’
Wendy Shay also, has a debut album dubbed ‘’Shay On You’’. Within just a year, she has received for herself several awards with the recent one been the New Artiste Of The Year Award at the 20th Anniversary edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
In spite of these milestones she has chalked in a spate of one year, the utter dislike and animosity Ghanaians harbour against her is an eyesore. She can be described as the most attacked celebrity on social media in Ghana right about now.
It can be deduce that since Wendy Shay was not the people’s kind of person to stand in the stead of Ebony Reigns and because they feel she is riding on the back of the prominence of Ebony, she deserves not their loyalty and love. Others also have the assertion that she is being given a cold reception simply because of how she burst on to the Ghanaian music scene supposedly unwholesome sense of fashion and attitude.
She appears not to be perturbed, not in the least, with the insults and dislikes. She recently posted some beautiful pictures of herself on her Instagram and Twitter handles and as expected, her adorable pictures did not receive an adorable appreciation. Whiles others tried as hard as they could to find fault with these pictures, others just hauled insults at her for no apparent reason.
For how long, can Wendy Shay endure this negative treatment as she strives hard to make people enjoy her music?
